Antentatal classes for Dad's

Hypnobirthing - A Dad's perspective

This is Robin, my husband, not long after the birth our second and third child. He is maximising the cuddles that come with small babies and their siblings (I promise he is not sleeping on the sofa with Florence, the camera just caught him blinking)

Here is what Robin has to say to all expectant fathers whose partner wants to come on a Wise Hippo antenatal hypnobirthing course...

"I cannot recommend my experience of hypnobirthing strongly enough for first time dads to be. If like me you feel initially a little scared, then disconnected, then scared again by the upcoming changes your life and partner are undergoing the hypnobirthing experience provides a practical route by which you can be truly involved in the pregnancy and birth experience. I found it really empowering as the course gives you skills that are actually useful in the delivery room; an understanding of the changes involved, what to expect and a knowledge of the process that enables you not just to be there to hold your partners hand (and get it crushed). Rather you can be the right hand man providing active physical and emotional support throughout the whole process.

The hypnobirthing course not only outlines the process of change in your partners body, why all those lovely little hormones are doing their thing. It gives you techniques to help her relax and the ability to feel connected to the growing life inside of her. So that when that magical moment of birth occurs for the first time it isn’t such a complete shock. I certainly feel I was able to cope better and be of more use in the birth of each of our children thanks to hypnobirthing. It certainly gave me a head’s up as well as a head start.

Birthing4Blokes

There’s a wealth of information out there for expectant mothers on pregnancy and birth, but so often the father has been left out of the conversation, BUT that has now changed. Male midwife Mark Harris has filled that vacuum, drawing on his decades of experience working with couples as they make the transition to being new parents.

You will learn, through experience, about important subjects ranging from massage to sex, and pain relief during labour to breastfeeding, this program is an honest, open and frank discussion about pregnancy and birth from a man’s point of view.

If you have been wondering what to do now she is pregnant, or how you will prepare yourself to be as supportive as you can be while she is giving birth, this program will equip to be the very best you can be. Rest assured if you and your partner have decided to also have Wise Hippo antenatal classes, Birthing4Blokes compliments this perfectly.

You, together with Mark, will explore how to harness the power of birthing hormones, how to remain calm and aware in the birthing room, how to communicate effectively, and ultimately how to live the process of becoming a father to the full.
